Sports Med Hydrotherapy Pool, Subiaco

Perth Fibreglass Pools won the tender to rejuvenate the dilapidated, tiled hydrotherapy pool at the SportsMed facility within the St John of God Hospital. The Perth Fibreglass Pools team worked closely with the St John of God engineering department and outside engineering consultants (GHD).

The old pool was leaking and the grout had failed. The pool looked tired and uninviting to clients and visitors. A new FRP lining was applied, which was 4 x the strength of a normal pool at 1200 GSM and finished with AQUAGUARD resurfacing gelcoats.
This 5-week project adhered to the codes of practise for Aquatic Facilities 2007 and the local Department of Health and local Shire regulations were met.

The SportsMed facility management and shareholders were delighted with their new facility that was completed on time and on budget.

This 40-year-old pool was in need of restoration as the tiles were broken and outdated. The customer wanted something a lot more modern and requested an additional spa area. After the designs were presented to the customer, work commenced as follows;

Spa:

The spa walls and seating areas were constructed from block and brick work.
A bubble system was created within the seating area and attached to a separate blower.
4 Venturi type jets were installed to the spa walls.
A new table was designed and constructed within the spa.
A spillway waterfall was created leading to the main pool.

Main pool area:

Modifications were made to the skimmer box entrance.
2 new return jets and pipework installed.
New LED light fitted.
Levelled edge beam in preparation for pavers.

After these modifications, the pool was finished with a new fibreglass layer in Aquaguards Nite Blue gelcoat system.

This job was initially started by a non SPASA registered company. The customers were unhappy with the quality of the job and terminated the contract. We started the job soon after and removed materials from previous work to create a blank canvas. Work commenced as follows;

Pool area:

All plaster work was repaired.
Unused water feature and jets were blanked off.
New return jets and a skimmer box was installed.
The height of the steps was raised.
The edge beam was raised ready for pavers.
New LED light installed.

Spa;

Venturi jets were installed.
The height of the entire seating area was raised.
The height of the waterfall was changed.
New LED light installed.

After these adjustments were made, we resurfaced the pool and spa with new fibreglass layer and finished with Aquaguards Lagoon Blue gelcoat system.

Large fibreglass pool renovation in South Hedland (before) – September 2018.

This large fibreglass pool resurfacing project in the town of Hedland took the team less than a week to complete.

Notice that we blanked off and re-positioned the skimmer box to the centre of the rear wall.

This is another shot of our large fibreglass pool renovation in the Pilbara town of South Hedland. The spa was difficult to renovate as there had been a previous attempt by another company that had failed. The paint was thick and hard to grind through.

Concrete to fibreglass pool conversion South Hedland (before) – September 2018

The plaster work had failed and had broken away with hollow patches forming. The customer wanted to convert from concrete to fibreglass.

We repaired the plasterwork, prepared the pool surface and applied a new strong fibreglass layer.

This Pilbara pool renovation is finished in Aquaguard Sapphire Blue top coat and will now last for many years to come.
